Privacy

Short version: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no ad networks. Visits are counted anonymously. Placing a bid needs an email and a card, so I keep your brand name, email, logo, website, bid amount, and a payment reference — nothing more, and never your card number.

Who runs this

Brand My Mac is an independent project run by a Canadian developer. Reach me any time at hello@brandmymac.ca. I decide what data is collected and why, so I'm responsible for what's described here.

What I collect when you bid

Email — to confirm your bid, tell you if you're outbid, and reach you if you win. That's the only reason it's asked for.

Brand name, logo, and website — these are what gets shown on the board and printed on the lid if your bid wins.

Bid amount and time — the auction can't work without them, and they're shown publicly.

A bidder identifier — a random value stored in your browser so a later bid on the same spot is recognised as yours and you're only charged the difference. It isn't an account and holds nothing about you.

A payment reference — the identifiers Stripe returns for your deposit, so it can be refunded or applied to your invoice. Card numbers are entered on Stripe's own page and never reach this site.

I don't ask for your name, address, or phone number, and there's no account to create — paying the deposit is what identifies a bid.

What's public and what isn't

Once a bid's deposit clears, the brand name, logo, website, and amount appear on the site — that's the whole point. Your email is never published and never shared with other bidders.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies. Visitor numbers come from DataFast in its cookieless mode — it turns your IP address, browser, and the page you land on into a rotating, pseudonymous identifier. There's no ad network and no profile of you. A couple of things live in your own browser and never reach a server: your bid details, so you don't retype them, and a note that your visit was already counted this session.

Who processes your data

Railway hosts the database and the logo files. Resend sends the bid and outbid emails. Stripe takes and refunds deposits and holds the card details this site never sees. Vercel hosts the site and keeps standard server logs. DataFast counts visits without cookies. I don't sell your data and don't use it for anything other than running this auction.

How long I keep it

Bid records stay for as long as the sticker is on the lid, since they're the record of who bought what. If a listing is removed, or you ask me to delete it, the record and the logo go within 30 days. Payment records are kept as long as Canadian tax and accounting rules require.

Your rights

Under Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted. Email hello@brandmymac.ca and I'll handle it within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, I'll email everyone holding a spot. The date at the top always shows the current version.
